At this moment, I am sitting at gate 123A at Los Angeles International Airport facing two huge television screens that have the words, “Sydney, Australia” scrolling across them. Reality has not sunk in, despite the fact that I take off in two hours. Even after packing for the last two days nonstop and making three trips a day to Target does not make it feel like I am headed to Australia. The whole car ride to the airport tonight I kept saying that it does not feel like I am headed to Sydney and will be there tomorrow. I checked in and the man at the ticket counter handed me my ticket for seat 81 K, and still, the reality still hasn’t sunk in. I kissed my family goodbye at security as they said, “See you in June when we will be able to travel the country with you!” My dad even told me to not hold back on doing anything and to travel as much as I wanted to, but it wouldn’t hurt if I got SOME studying in between my travels. My mom proceeded to say I don’t care what you do, just make sure you get that P (which is passing) on my transcript. So my question is, when will it finally hit me and feel like I am headed half way across the world to Australia to study abroad?
When that feeling finally comes, I will let you all know. Well, I am going to board very soon so I am going to have to say my final goodbye from the USA, but once I land, I will try and update my blog with a big hello from Australia.
Love your mate,
Heidi
